We had to get up to get to Christchurch. As there was no real alarm
clock we used my telephone. First and last time I used my telephone as
alarm clock -> didn't wake up from it. Had everything packed already and
were ready to go in about 5 minutes, which was good because everybody
was waiting. We had to leave early for two reasons:
- it was a long trip to Christchurch
- Around Queenstown they were busy with road constructions that
requires the whole road to be closed. Each hour it was open for only
20 minutes. If you are not on time you have to wait till the next
hour. Luckily we made it.
Along the way we made a few stops, most without a lot of other
tourist. One stop was pretty densely tourist populated: near an old
church. You had to time it a bit to get a picture without lots of
tourist on it.

We also went by Mt. Cook, but it was hidden in clouds.

Around 17:30 we arrived in Queenstown. The YMCA (yep, that is the
name of the place we were going to stay) that was our original target
for staying was full, so we went to the Stonehurst. It is some kind of
upgrade youth-hotel. There were 6 showers for 14 rooms, which took a bit
to get used to as we were accustomed to having our own shower in the
room. The most fuzzy thing about the place was the wiring of the
lightning.
